An easier one this week! The rhythm for this one incorporates a simple bass pattern establishing an effective ‘groove’ and can really add sparkle to a rhythm part. Try and use upstrokes for the chords and downstrokes for the bass notes. This track uses a 12-bar Blues progression.
Regarding the solo, an essential part of the R&B guitar sound is the technique known as ‘double stopping’ i.e. playing two notes simultaneously. One good scale for this is the 2nd position Blues scale as used here.
