
Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) Style Solo
This week’s solo is pretty simple in regards to theory. It includes many of Tony’s signature licks and is based around the D Minor Pentatonic. It’s a good introduction to intermediate soloing for novices, because although it moves along at a brisk 145 bpm, the fast sections (made up of semiquaver notes) are brief. It’s also a good introduction in breaking out of the position 1 Pentatonic Scale, as the first 8 bars are played using only the position 4 Pentatonic Scale.
